The Event

The Rainbow Boogie is an annual skydiving event that attracts gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered skydivers and spectators, as well as straight skydivers who enjoy skydiving with the GLBT community! The 2012 event will be held at Skydive Chicago between August 31 and September 3 and will consist of spectacular aerial feats by skydivers as well as an evening banquet, dance event, and other ground activities for both jumpers and spectators alike.

The first Rainbow Boogie in 2006 was held at NouvelAir near Montreal. After a brief hiatus, the boogie returned in 2009 to Cross Keys in help thanks to the growing global social networking community. The Rainbow Skydivers group on Facebook has grown to over 200 skydivers spanning numerous countries and seeks to promote skydiving as a sport that is inclusive to all.

The Festivities

The fun doesn't stop at sunset however, and the Saturday night party will be no exception. Past celebrations have featured a DJ, a motorcycle stunt show, wildly colorful decorations and even a guy in spandex jumping out of a giant rainbow cake. The festivities help foster unity and acceptance as gay and straight party goers mingle and celebrate the weekend’s achievements.

First Jump & Spectators

Spectators are welcome, and participation in jumps is completely optional. The dropzone offers fully-equipped training for first-time skydivers interested in a first jump with a licensed instructor.
