Background

Rainbow Boogie began in 2006 and adopted its Constitution and Charter in February 2007. Rainbow Boogie bases its membership on the Rainbow Skydivers group. The volunteer Board of Directors and Organizers are comprised of GBLT community persons who have a strong interest in skydiving. The mandate of Rainbow Boogie is as follows:

  • To promote, pursue and foster interests in community spirit and international relationships and helping make public opinion favourable in the matter of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in the skydiving world;
  • Advance the cultural and social interests of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and promoting the best interests of the community at large;
  • Unite members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and protect the character of skydiving, while promoting better knowledge, ethical and safe practice of the sport. Foster goodwill and sportsmanship;
  • Establish, organize and maintain sporting and recreational event(s) for its members and their friends;
  • Unite and promote the mutual interests of all persons interested in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding;

Funding for these initiatives is made possible by the generosity and goodwill of members and non-members. This grass-roots funding coupled with new partnerships, membership  and other sources will allow Rainbow Boogie to continue with its mandate.
